Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)
Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is part of the National Senior Corps network of programs which recruits adults 55 and older to use their skills, talents and life experience to help meet community needs through volunteer service. RSVP is sponsored in northwest Iowa by Iowa Lakes Community College. Volunteers help with such things as transportation, education-school volunteers, companions-telephone resources, disaster preparedness, food distribution through pantries and many more. RSVP volunteers choose what they want to do, when they want to do it. Opportunities for service are as diverse as the volunteers themselves and engage volunteers in a wide range of community projects. Whether teaching children or adults to read, providing needed transportation, or supplying support to local public and non-profit agencies, RSVP volunteers are making a difference in the lives of individuals, while at the same time, they are strengthening their communities.
